Its really interesting how ships of a certain size have to conform to strict shipping lanes just like aircraft control does to prevent accidents. Also, after further reading I think the correct term is “transit passage”, as “international waters” has a separate meaning, but I think most people would just call it the latter as I’ve never heard of the former until now!
