1/4 of the comments are about how blue-haired transgender leftist college kids have destroyed America with feminism and 3/4 are people dunking on them with screenshots of Kirk’s racist tweets about Chinese people

I find the sheer quantity of unmoderated racism and bigotry I see on XHS sometimes pretty unsettling. It’s not just the “blue haired trans people blah blah blah” shit but also serious reactionary anti-black racism that’s entirely indistinguishable from american right wing shit. Really feels like it goes unmoderated because they don’t think it matters to domestic China.

From a comment I made a while back: There is a certain segment of noncommunist Chinese nationalists that basically believe the exact same things as the average Fox News-addled American boomer about woke liberals destroying America by legalizing crime and importing violent migrants and opening free crack distribution centers, except they think it’s good that it’s happening. Just last week I watched a video on bilibili where the guy said San Diego residents are forced to watch millions of migrants invade America by lining up at the border where CBP assigns them free luxury mansions no questions asked if they lie about being abused. Anyway the conclusion of the video was that America is becoming the Qing dynasty because of the moral decay caused by marijuana legalization, and that this is poetic justice. I would not recommend clicking on any video that has anything to do with BLM either

Clearly the great firewall isn’t great enough. Social media seems to be a hotspot of this kind of shit, regardless of the country.

Yeah this is the kind of shit I’m talking about. They need to address it. China can’t have international solidarity with the world while a huge chunk of its people are being convinced of this shit.

Yeah but none of that was in the reported list of reasons they’re being called up.

The special campaign focused on rectifying online problems that harm or negatively affect the physical and mental health of minors. It will strictly investigate and punish illegal content involving violence and superstition, pornography, inducement of suicide or self-harm, and infringement of minors’ privacy. It will also clean up vulgar, crude, money-worshipping, or wealth-flaunting content, as well as extreme emotional expressions, while severely cracking down on illegal activities targeting minors.

I don’t think they care about their population saying the issue with america is black and trans people because it doesn’t affect their own country much. They care about the things that affect their country. If these were affecting things within China then there would be some sort of effort to resolve it.

I’ve learned so many problems with China from just lurking XHS, problems that are way worse than what the western media typically complains about. Without going into too much detail let’s just say I think the party needs to change the rule that disallows joining the CPC if you have a family member convicted of a serious crime. It causes really horrific situations.

There’s always one thing I want to remind my Western friends: China is not a communist utopia where 1.4 billion people all think the same way. On the contrary, every kind of ideology—left, right, liberal, nationalist, progressive, reactionary, and even the most niche or specialized—has a significant following in China. In fact, ideological debates on various social media platforms have been particularly intense in recent years. What makes China unique is the Communist Party’s system of democratic centralism, which leaves no room for ideological agitators.

The WeChat channels algorithm is crap. I hide/block/report a deluge of imported manosphere, antisemitic, anti-woke content and it just serves it right back up after three or so videos. That being said I haven’t seen too much Tate recently.

In reaction to the Kirk shooting mostly the reaction was same as here, i.e. ‘chickens came home to roost’ but the occasional clip extolling him as an anti-woke crusader. Hasbara is definitely active on WeChat with the sentiment against Muslims via anti-immigration steadily increasing in the last year or so and it seems every other video about life in the west the top upvoted comment will be:

      Cw: racism, nazism

      spoiler

(mass-migration is the reason the West is collapsing, Muslims/blacks are inherently violent, canada is becoming New New Delhi, white nationalists are just defending their country so we support them)
