I just hate that these people care so much about other people’s genitals. Always need an other to blame your problems on, even if you have more money then you will ever need and have made it in society.
Shit like this is why money absolutely doesn’t make you happy. It only serves to make someone like Rowling empty of worry and then feel real keenly just how much your worries and unfulfilled needs were your whole-ass personality. And since that’s hard to face or work through, someone’s gotta be to blame and it’s people I think have weird genitals! It’s so coherent, makes so much sense!

My pet theory based on vibes and nothing else is that capitalism puts humans in competition with each other as a means of survival. And by being brought up and immersed in that environment it’s almost impossible for us to shake that mode of thought.
Sure JK may have won capitalism and secured her own survival by any reasonable measure, but psychologically she still needs to be in competition with someone, and weirdly she’s decided that the trans rights lobby is the competition she’s chosen. Presumably because her food and shelter isn’t under threat, so her only remaining worries are her sense of self and of identity. Clearly being a (very limited version of) a woman (egg gamete producer) is important to Joanne, and her understanding of that and therefore her own identity is ‘under attack’ by the conceptual ‘spanner in the works’ of trans women.
While I agree that you have a point, I gotta disagree to an extent as to her motives. I think the root cause of it is that her books show her own internalized racism transphobia and other biases in their pages and people on the left have rightly pointed that out. Like how her only adult black character is called Schaklebolt, or how every overweight person is described as a disgusting butterball slob, or how slavery is fine so long as the slaves think they want it.
She always had these views, so much so she could not help but write them in her fiction unprompted (probably without realizing these views were at all problematic), but she really didn’t like that pointed out to her.
