How do you actually oppose? If these institutions are weakened, necessarily the “tankie” countries and groups will have more power in the world. Regardless of whatever principle you declare to have, the weakening of the west is the strengthing of China, Russia, and the multipolar world. And vice versa is true as well. Harm done to China is beneficial for NATO, tge EU, and the US.
If you recobize that the west is suppressing you as it conducts imperialism, and you take action against it, you are fundamentally aligned with Russia, China, and “Tankies” across the world. You can try your best to deny this charge but you are functionally on the same side. However if you refuse to act in a way that could jeprodizes western dominance, your on the side of capitalism, imperialism, and the suppression of the western working class.
So then anti-tankies must make a decision at some point. Is it better to be aligned with the west or their opposition? That decision will all ways be made based on what the “anti-tankie” views as the bigger obstacle to progress, which is a measurable phenomenon. Therefore this choice can be debated based on its material effects, and it here where the anti-tankie is cornered.
If they want to argue their support for the west over the “tankie” alternatives is materially progressive, they will simply be incorrect. Their argument can not hold scrutiny to actual material evidence, so their reasoning is unsound nonsense.
I do not care for the opinions of the “anti-authoritarian” I care for their analysis and actions. When I work and interact with anarchists or others who are rhetorically anti-AES, I do not fret much over their opinion unless they are spreading misinformation, which I’ve yet to encounter, (my comrades are principled and reconize how to not splinter a coalition) because we are working towards the common goal of liberating Palestine. For this goal to be achieved it is reconized by all involved that it is OUR government who is the biggest threat to our objective and to us as “leftists” and anti-imperialists. It is understood that the western media are the most despicable liars about their adversaries and their intention only seek to undermine our interests. Therefore, we know not to spread state department talking points for free, and to never capitulate to their framing, choosing to extract the hypocrisy of their statements instead.
I don’t care if my comrade is even an anarchist if they are able to make the simple distinction that the state oppressing them right now is more dangerous to them then any foreign state who may or may not be “authoritarian”.
