I was looking for the source “Antisemitism is the socialism of fools” and stupidly clicked wiki.

This logic is clearly too advanced for me.

That’s Leo Strauss for you. Haven’t read him, so take this with a grain of salt, but apparently he holds that all philosophy has a hidden, esoteric meaning that often directly contradicts what the particular philosopher is saying on the surface level. So Thomas Aquinas was secretly an atheist, etc. Which has always made me wonder: why, Herr Strauss, should I believe that philosophy is “esoteric?” Maybe your asserting this is just you being – esoteric as well?

Sounds like an enormous generalization that simply can’t be true. I mean, where does this particular rabbit hole even end? Some people are more aware and, dear I say, woke than others. We can’t all be closeted and repressed, even if some obviously are.

So according to Strauss, nothing is as it seems, there is not truth, up is down… wait, that describes the current political climate in the world! Oh dear…

But it would also mean that I’m something like an extremely orthodox literalist christian and a super-phobic nazi, so maybe there’s not all that much to it.

I’m sure there was some rambling about “rootless cosmopolitans” in there.
