Not at all woke. Bro is an absolute chud: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Turkson

Maybe a little less chud: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Antonio_Tagle

Rush hour 4 could be cool tho

I agree that calling Turkson “woke” is wildly inappropriate but he’s only reactionary on contraception and LGBTQ (well, and all the other things that are basically not even up for discussion like abortion and women in general). But he definitely also presents an important and undervalued perspective on colonialism, the IMF, and the African Church. I would definitely much rather have him than a Pope who collaborates with the US in the name of anticommunism which would alienate the Global South, especially China. Tagle is still preferable, though.

I like Tagle. Turkson sounds like he sucks. We are past international regulatory bodies on behalf of the marginalized.

Progressive read of Vatican II is a great sign.

Yes, they look fly as hell in their little costumes, but can we all just collectively admit that nobody gives a shit? I don’t even think most catholics care who the pope is. What’s he going to do, rewrite the Bible? I actually don’t know; I know next to nothing about modern catholicism.

Yeah to me the pope is like the royal wedding. A lot of people get super into it and I’m like why should I care? I’m not religious and even if I was I wasn’t raised Catholic nor would that ever be my chosen religion.

I suppose this go round is interesting to find out if all the newly minted tradcaths will be celebrating the death of Woke or digging themselves deeper into sedevacantism. But beyond that who really cares

The only Cardinal I think you could accurately describe as “woke” is Hollerich from Luxembourg. He doesn’t have a realistic chance to be elected, though. From the papabili that seem much more likely to be elected, Tagle, Zuppi, or Pizzaballa are probably the most “left.” It kinda depends how much weight you put on social issues vs geopolitics though.
