US-backed news outlets love to exaggerate and complain about China’s supposed anti-LGBT policies that don’t actually exist. There’s some really good discussion around this on r/Sino Reddit.

Pride is a reaction and fight against police state repression of LGBT (particularly trans people). If they’re not being repressed in China, I would understand not needing/caring to have a Pride parade.

About where I’m at. Chauvinistic westerners look at the LGBT enclaves of other nations, especially farther east, and tend to forget… The only reason the bastardization of Pride that the West observes even existed in the first place was because it used to be a riot against oppression. Nowadays, all I see is what used to be a remembrance, turned into a ceremonial licking of the boot that stomps our necks.

From personal experience having half my family in China and being Bi and having dated a man, the older generation think its weird and icky and doesn’t make sense. My cousins who are my age or younger couldn’t give less of a fuck who i date or fuck. China is going through a similar change as much of the west, social change is happening globally right now for LGBTQ+ people.

“so you don’t have a month defined for your capitalist overlords to being signaled by the media and reactionaries, to be forgotten the rest of the year? that’s tiranny!”

Not gonna become better if candidates continuously suck Eduardo Manalo’s cock for the INC bloc vote.
