RARBG has shut down today. If you go to their website, you will be presented with the following message:

Hello guys, We would like to inform you that we have decided to shut down our site. The past 2 years have been very difficult for us - some of the people in our team died due to covid complications, others still suffer the side effects of it - not being able to work at all.

Some are also fighting the war in Europe - ON BOTH SIDES. Also, the power price increase in data centers in Europe hit us pretty hard. Inflation makes our daily expenses impossible to bare. Therefore we can no longer run this site without massive expenses that we can no longer cover out of pocket. After an unanimous vote we’ve decided that we can no longer do it.

We are sorry :( Bye

That’s really unfortunate. Hopefully some other groups will step in to take their place.

RARBG was one of the biggest public trackers that published Scene releases directly. It was one of the most trusted ones around, and aside from games they published lots of 4k movies. AFAIK 1337x is the other one left that’s as big, though it’s more unsafe in the software category and in general because they allow sign-ups.

        Oh I see.

They were a pirated streaming service online. Gotcha.

I’ll miss that place a lot. Don’t really have time to manage ratios and the upkeep that comes with private trackers (though that won’t stop me now - torrentleech here I come!). I’ll miss the great-for-a-torrent-site UI rarbg had as well.

torrentleech dot org has just opened their doors with an invite code on their homepage for a “very limited time” as a result of this.

If you are interested in dipping your toes into private trackers TL is pretty good in terms of amount of content (though admittedly everything but top tier trackers pales in comparison to what rarbg was). I will warn you though that because they open their doors frequently it’s known that they are not entirely free of copyright trolls so use a VPN or a seedbox.

Please be sure to read the rules after you sign up and before you grab anything. Focus on newly released, popular freeleech files first to build ratio and buffer before trying to download anything that isn’t freeleech.

Also, be warned, most freeleech is going to be full remuxes and season packs, big files. The smaller encodes that rarbg tended to be most popular for almost always cost ratio. New users (anyone who doesn’t get promoted) must seed back for 10 days all downloaded files, that is 24 hours x 10 (I’d go +2 hours because sometimes it doesn’t register right, if you’re dipping in and out of seeding by turning the computer off you should check your site stats for torrents before deleting something to make sure it has recorded you seeding it for the proper amount of time, don’t trust your torrent client).

You must maintain an overall ratio of greater than 0.40 or you will be banned. Freeleech torrents do not detract from your ratio, only add to it when you successfully seed. Seeding extensively also rewards you TL points which you can turn in for extra data upload to buffer your ratio.

EDIT: Do not sign up with an email connected to your real name if you can help it. You can get a free protonmail account and use that for it.
