I mean, Stellaris kind of prepares you it’s gonna be unmaterialist and undialectic piece of shit from the race selection menu. Your options are: totally-good-guys-who-are-democratic-respect-differences-and-are-cool, and then various forms of evil alien Empire. Oh and there are other humans, but they are ebil and militaristic and ew. You just know it’s going to be wack from the get go
There’s also shared burden which could be counted as socialism of different kinds, depending on what you add to it, which is already better representation of communism than every other PDX game including HoI.
Yup it’s best advisor ever. “The dialectic will spread” on contact with aliens. “Establishing means of production” on world colonization, he also call colonization “communisation”. “We will hang them with the rope they sell us” on declaring war. “Invasive expropration repelled” when you defend from invasion. “Commencing workforce liberation” when you invade planet. “Planetary property collectivised” when you win the invasion, and it’s with very cheerful voice. “Early workers have achieved class consciousness” on uplifting species.
He even quote first line of english translation of USSR anthem by Robeson: “United forever in friendship and labour”
My favourite is “Hostile reactionaries engaged” at the battle start, though i often am like “comrade, those are space amoebas, they aren’t really reactionary even if they just eaten our mining station”.
Also that voice bring the image of elder man (possibly with huge beard) speaking with vague german accent.
i mean the pre made empires are kinda a meme you can just make your own, also there are plenty of loving aliens like the blorg, and there is another human empire the fully automated space communism one but that one is part of the robot dlc.
4x games always call every major faction “empire” regardless of its system, and it was right from the very start of the genre with original Civilization game. Idk if that’s purposeful liberalism but i doubt that, it was coined by Sid Meier and he surely didn’t read Lenin. The classical nonmarxist definition of “empire” do fit huge majority of them.
Depend, if let’s say tomorrow someone discover how to break the lightspeed barrier (extremely unlikely but not impossible), imperialists will pump money in that.
If that someone did discover it, odds are that someone would be in China, rather than trying to work through the choked mass of deliberate sabotage that is required for scientific advancement in the imperial core.
Yup, China is pushing more research then west in the space and theoretical physics now. West currently is still ahead because they have infrastructure and tons of accumulated experience but they will be left behind in the future.

Guess I haven’t gotten this far
It’s a civic which you can take since the beginning, you need fanatic egalitarian ethic though.
It’s also ironic that it’s released with the same expansion that give us Megacorp empire.
Plus a sheer meme that is the Worker advisor.
Best advisor voice ever.

Frankly I take issue with calling it an empire

I meant in terms of an “empire” reaching advanced, space faring stage. Looking around, I doubt it is possible
