Thinking that they uncovered some kind of deep dark secret when they find out that Marxist communists, including Lenin, called themselves Social Democrats prior to WWI. Newsflash: the split in the Second International is what led to “Social Democrat” gaining the meaning as we understand it today. Before that it was synonymous with socialist or communist. Lenin and the Bolsheviks and others who split off from the Social Democrats over their opportunist position on the Imperialist War are the ones who popularized the idea of identifying as a communist as something distinct from Social Democracy. This person is using Lenin’s terminology and doesn’t even know it.
I won’t even go into the absurd things this commenter said about the Mensheviks. How someone can get to be this wrong and misinformed i have no idea.
