When you say “others who are on that website” you mean the mods/operators of said website? Because if anything gets taken down, your copies are heresay. You will need the operator of the site to submit records on the user (or they should expect to be subpoenaed for the info).

If you want the pictures removed, your girlfriend should file a GDPR deletion request with the website. But coordinate that with the police because the worst thing could be the website deleting it and the police then going “we don’t see what you have described on the website, we can’t do anything”

Try to get a restraining order, maybe? That’s the usual go-to when there’s a reason to believe someone might attempt to harm you, but they haven’t actually done anything to the effect yet.

If I was you I’d be taking physical security steps too. Mostly just thinking about how to avoid being vulnerable where this guy can find you. Lock your doors at home, keep a potential weapon handy, don’t post about being somewhere until you’re gone again, that kind of thing.

I’m unsure with UK but I know the US it can cost a lot of money and basically has to be renewed every year meaning an annual cost (paid protection for the wealthy and all). Hopefully it’s different in other parts of the world, the police knowing though is an important thing just in case anything comes up in the future and you can show a timeline and history for evidence so definitely always have a discussion with the local authorities.

If the police won’t help then you’ve no option but to take your own safety into your own hands. Is pepper spray/gel legal where you live? If so start carrying it, if not find something else you can carry that would incapacitate a would be attacker.

Sadly, this is expected, the unknown person didn’t break any law. I guess we need to update laws to cover this kind of threats.

      Consult a lawyer, document everything.

Everyone involved should try to write down or record everything they can remember about suspected person and contact with them.

My country is similar, but there is a difference if they cross a line at some point if you reported them before or not. Punishment is much harder and faster if there are reports before incident.

This pod cast is about someone who went through something similar, and ended up prosecuting.

See how negatively it affected their lives and decide if involving the police is best for you. I hope you agree that it is.

You may be preventing future crimes by stopping the behaviour early, even though it can be socially awkward to navigate this with a friend.

This is what I was thinking of. Unfortunately the Police were not very little help most of the time. During their saga, they basically had to become their own lawyers and collect a pile of evidence to make anything happen.

Acquire some means of personal defense, also.

Mace, stun gun, etc. I carry a pocket stun gun because in my city there is occasionally violence on the public bus.

To extend this, consider your own safety throughout. Unless the police arrest them and they remain in custody, you have a potential serious threat. Avoid situations where you/others could be vulnerable, such as alone or at night. You may want to setup visible surveillance cameras, alter your routines, etc.

The police will be there after anything happens, but that may be too late for you.

All of which you’ve described is illegal to carry outside of the US.

Carry hairspray in a can. Can be used as mace but cannot easily be construed as a weapon by police if they find it in your bag.

It may be easier to get a rifle or a shotgun for hunting purposes. Really depends on location, but this might be the easiest and fastest way to legally get your hands on a firearm.

Skip the police and go strait to the FBI.

Fuck the police, never involve them in anything unless you want your dog shot and crack sprinkled between your couch cushions.

Remember that poor old lady that called the cops because she thought someone was in her yard and the shitbag pig shot her with no consequences?

Do not let cops anywhere near your life if you can avoid it. The FBI will act on credible online threats.

Hm. Honestly, if you’re not willing to get police involved, the only real option you might have would be to confront the person you suspect. Obviously they may be a danger to others, so you may wish to do it in a very public space where you can put something physical between the two of you (eg a restaurant table).

If it were me, I would maybe take one person (at post) with me if I really felt threatened by this person. But by all means, don’t make it a huge deal or you will spook or freak out this person. Best case scenario is they flee and stop posting and then you won’t know what they’re up to. Worst case is that they flip out and decide to go in their dream rampage.

Short of that, I would also strongly recommend that you and your friends always stay in groups of at least two (maybe three if possible). Maybe pair a friendly guy with a girl (if they are comfortable with that). I suggest that because the stalker probably would be intimidated by the male presence.

All of that aside, go to the police. Even if they are incompetent, you must get this documented as soon as possible.

If you do not wish to involve the police, then you have to look at your illegal options.
