Wrath of the Righteous was one of the best CRPGs I’ve ever played. Would recommend that. I’m playing Owlcat’s followup right now: Rogue Trader, and loving it even more actually, but will save final verdict for when I finish it.
I loved both Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous especially.
I can’t wait to play the Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader CRPG they made next; I still have yet to play that one.
Rogue Trader is good for me, but there’s buts. On the one hand, it’s probably best representation of 40k universe ever made in game, and the story is aslo actually quite good, just as characters (unlike Wrath of the Righteous where it was probably the chief reason for me to drop it, i didn’t found literally anyone interesting).
But on the other there’s still shitton of bugs and bad design choices, and classes for combat is probably the worst i ever seen in an cRPG, almost every single class is a fucking chore to use in combat because you need to set up elaborate, often multi turn combos, buildups and setups in every single random combat, which goes old very very fast. And they even harshly nerfed the only class where it wasn’t necessary (i mean you needed some setup too, but you could do it in few clicks instead of few minutes). Also it’s of course pathfinder, the most overcook rpg system ever. And you can’t even respec party characters without toolbox mod, seriously full respeccing of even class in Baldur 3 is such a fucking great idea i wonder why nobody else had it in the last 3 decades.Overall, very recommended, but you might want to skim over combat or mod it.

- CrossCode (banger jazz fusion+prog OST, zelda-like dungeons, decent story about self-acceptance, great combat and bosses)
- Katamari Damacy (cozy, banger OST, wacky gameplay)
- ZeroRanger (GOATed OST, great aesthetic and story-gameplay integration)
- OFF (disturbing atmosphere and a story that’s up to interpretation, artistically brilliant imo)
- Xanadu Next (japanese isometric dungeon crawler similar to Diablo but without the random loot and with a different build system, the music and atmosphere is pretty good, I also thought the story was pretty decent, make sure you collect all the records if you play it)
- Trails in the Sky trilogy (JRPGs with a great positional battle system, banger music and very charming and well written characters. Also, the world building is great. The next game in the series lost the charm imo, but most people like it as much)
- Ys: The Oath in Felghana (isometric action JRPG with gameplay that is a mixture of hack&slash, bullet hell and platformer, it’s pretty unique. Also yhe music is good)
That Ys game you mentioned looks tempting…
Hades, it’s a roguelike but fulfills the banger music and LGBTQIA+ in spades.
Gris, once again banger music, 2D instead of 3D platformer but is entirely pacifist, girl protagonist, kinda sorta cozy but in somber way, closest a game has gotten to making me cry (if you do buy it: go to the left when you start)
Hades is great, but I’ve already played it extensively and had my fill of it, at least for now.

the life and suffering of sir brante. it’s basically a choose your own adventure book but a little bit more complicated. it’s a russian game and the world building is good so give it a try.

I wouldn’t reccomend Daggerfall. It was revolutionary game back then, but the QoL have been abysmal even then. Currently the game is downright dreary unless you’re heavily into very old crpg.
I played ELEX 1, and it was very boring.
Definitely do play Morrowind if you still didn’t. Though refer to some modernising mod guides, the game did aged quite a bit but have many mods improving it.
If you didn’t played it yet, play Shadow Tactics, literally only stealth game i ever liked.
Tale of Immortal - if you’re into wuxia stories you will love it, otherwise pass as it is pretty specific niche game
Wandering Sword: probably best wuxia game out there (or at least in english), this one is in classic jrpg convention.
EMU: Suikoden series. 1-2 definitely, 3-4 optionally, 5 is good again. 1-2 is on PSX, 3-5 on PS2. Crime that this series isn’t continued. There is spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicles but as usual in the case of spiritual successor it ain’t it (though it’s decent game worth playing on its own merit).

It is well-known, especially in recent years as its reputation grew, but not as oft-played as other Nintendo games, unfortunately.
