    They were a divergent human species that failed and were overtaken by Homo Sapiens due to Sapiens significantly increased intelligence and endurance. We actually don’t share an evolutionary line with them (They are not an earlier species of humanity).

    Basically Orangutans and Gorillas.

      I’m pretty sure Neanderthals were actually smarter, but that took more energy so sapiens took over.

        Nope, Sapiens are still considered to be smarter by science. Neanderthals had a large brain similar to humans, but several vital parts such as the Prefrontal Cortex are much smaller while the Visual Cortex is larger in their brains, leaving them much less intelligent then Sapiens.

        So basically they were more perceptive and better hunters. But worse planners, builders, educators, and less able to create large functioning societies like tribes.
