‘After 72 hours without power in Israel – it will be uninhabitable,’ says CEO of company overseeing electrical systems.

Israel is utterly unprepared for a war with Hezbollah and for the toll such a conflict could take on the country’s power infrastructure, the CEO of a company that manages and oversees Israel’s electrical systems on behalf of the government said on Thursday.

“We are not ready for a real war. We live in a fantasy world, in my eyes,” said Shaul Goldstein, head of Noga – the Israel Independent System Operator. Later, in an interview with Kan Public Broadcaster, he seemed to walk his comments back somewhat: “I said irresponsible things. I shouldn’t have.”

“If Nasrallah decides to paralyze Israel’s power grid, he only needs to pick up the phone and call the head of Beirut’s power grid, which is [technically] identical to Israel’s.” Goldstein said, before noting that “the upside is that we have invested a lot in protection, working together with Israel Electric Company.”

    Always hilarious when the media interviews somebody who’s priority is the reality of things like power and water instead of a propoganda mouthpiece.

    “Hospitals are going to be full in 2 weeks if we’re lucky and there’s no plan to alleviate the issues once they happen.” - person in charge of keeping the power on so hospitals don’t become overcrowded

          I mean, crown corporations are technically public because they are owned by and accountable to the government.

        Most of Australia by area, probably half of Australia by population

        One state which sold off all their electricity infrastructure in the 90s just amended the constitution to require a parliamentary supermajority to privatise electricity assets in future, and established a state owned enterprise to take over energy sector projects*

        *probably bailing out all the stranded coal and gas assets, but also some renewables in there

        The national energy grid (which is huge) is a federal government run mix of private and public infrastructure (interestingly one state’s electricity SOEs were caught manipulating prices and ripping off the federal government)

        Zionists’ goal is jewish migration to Israel. Having a common ancestry/religion is not enough of a selling point for most people. It’s why they fund and support a lot of fascists and/or their rhetoric around the world so Jews don’t feel safe. This is something that top minds in the country have spoken openly about, going as far as saying that Hitler was noble for kickstarting the interest in Israel by Jews.

        So, they have fermented antisemitism around the world to compel jews and their families to move to a country that occupies millions of people who hate their guts, surrounded by neighbors who also hate their guts. Only fools feel safe there. It imports pedos, literal black sun Nazi Jews from Russia, and they purposely make Jews hated everywhere that could potentially be called Home that’s not israel.

    That guy walking back his comments reminds me of that time bill mahar said that us soldiers were cowards bc they don’t ram their jets into buildings like 9/11 style. He was forced to apologize and retract his statement.

    with every month that passes, it’s seeming more and more likely that this colonial project exists entirely by the constant injection of material supports from the metropole. logistics, security, weapons and cash, sure, but also credit and banking relations.

    I think BDS or even a slight drawing down of support for the Israeli government from all limbs of the western hegemony represents an existential threat to its continued existence and the entire thing would fold in on itself rapidly as the various grifters and opportunists feeding and siphoning off wealth from the capital faucet will rapidly bleed out the project and vanish in the commotion of its implosion.

      He’s giving a helpful hint that Lebanon has a near identical grid at home to analyse, train against, etc. I think the point is that Israel should expect Hezbollah to be able to efficiently disable the electric grid if hostilities reach that level.
