Basically I had this shower thought that the settler colonial regimes of the world uses its civilian population as shields from natives looking to reclaim their stolen land.
yep that’s the settler part of the colony, it’s a multi-generational occupation.

Someone posted a map once of Isntrael that showed how newer settlements were being built in a way that acted as a sponge/wall to protect against possible invasions.
I need to find that map again.
It’s not just you, human shields are an inherent part of settler-colonialism and white supremacy in general. The settler-imperialist mentality throughout history has involved this- crying about how “white women and children are being targeted,” etc. It’s not a coincidence that whites who will simultaneously deny that genocides occurred in the Americas, Australia, NZ, or even Ireland (for Anglos), will then cry foul, and “genocide!” when faced with the prospect of decolonization.
The victim mentality shown by Pissraelis today has also been the constant mentality of settlers throughout history, when faced with resistance and even a thousandth of what their victims suffer. You can see it also with the “Boer genocide/farm killing” claims nowadays (mind you, what the Brits did during the Boer wars on the other hand absolutely should count as genocide), or with the portrayals of “savage natives scalping and killing innocent settlers,” etc. throughout AmeriKKKan, Klanadian, and Australian history, or with the way the Mau Mau, Haitians, Boxers, etc. were demonized.
And the settler process is such that- of course those “human shields” will inevitably have to face collateral damage, in the necessary anti-colonial struggle. It shouldn’t be done wantonly, but the entire ideology and concept revolves around waging a genocidal demographic war against the colonized.
It’s basically relying on their enemies to have more humanity than the colonizers. And then using it against them.
