The etymology of Oregon mentined seems to be incorrect, cause from what I’ve seen no one really knows where Oregon comes from, and the only Iberian origin I’ve seen refers to the ears of the natives, orejon, means big ear.
Yeah I guess it’s just one folk etymology of many but the explanation is a Portuguese sailor who called it “Ouve água” (hear water) because they heard the river from far away
