This hurts a lot. Lots of capable people that were needed in key industries were lost due to capitalism.

    I would argue it is also because the ruling class retaina these degrees for themselves, as it allows them to maintain a chokehold on the superstructure - control the mainstream ideology, media narratives, create justifications for their own parasitic existence, etc

      There is certainly a lot of truth in this. Liberal crackdown on social sciences is clear example - they are demonised as “useless” while in fact they are anything but, bourgeoisie firm control on economics, sociology, politogy and history is one of the mainstay of their status quo.

      It’s nothing new by the way, it’s very similar as ancient Romans forbidding teaching of rhetorics to anyone but their ruling class, because it was instrumental skill in any public career.
