Kids, when capitalists try to get rich selling you frivolous knick-knacks produced by exploiting workers in the global south, that’s nooo good.

I remember hearing this somewhere and to this day it’s been stuck in my head.

The thing is Sonic has a red-white-blue colour scheme, in contrast to Robotnik’s/Eggman’s/Baldy McNosehair’s yellow-red colouring scheme. These are the same colours as the American and Soviet flags. Along with this, Sonic 1 came out just as the Cold War was wrapping up. Sonic collects huge amounts of rings (average image of capitalism), while Robotnik creates sad grey industrial dystopias (stereotypical image of Soviet cities). To go along with the Soviet city thing, Sonic lives in a beautiful paradise. Therefore, Sonic is anticommunist propaganda.

Sonic and Green Hill represent Cuba, Robotnik represents the United States and his badniks represent the Cuban exiles (Bay Of Pigs Invasion)
