Yeah, I don’t think anybody with even a couple of brain cells to bang together believes that. More likely they’re worried about energy disruptions due to the war in the Middle East they’re fuelling right now, and they’re getting ready to cut Europe loose.

I went to look up the level of USA strategic reserves and it turns out the USA doesn’t have a natural gas strategic reserve
