Weyland-Yutani is consistently portrayed as exhibiting the worst aspects of corporate profiteering, willing to sacrifice decency and life in the endless pursuit of monetary profits.

Weyland-Yutani is on a whole other level imo, as demonstrated by special order 937:

      PRIORITY ONE

INSURE RESTURN OF [XENOMORPH] FOR ANALYSIS.

      ALL OTHER CONSIDERATIONS SECONDARY

      CREW EXPENDABLE

      • ALL OTHER CONSIDERATIONS SECONDARY

That is not good. You DON’T want to FAFO without a safety net. At least the UNSC from Halo have the Upsilon and Corruptor protocols given the danger of the Flood.

That the evil industrial quasi state corporation is at least partially Japanese reflects the anxiety present in western culture of the late 70s through 80s over ascendant Japanese industrial dominance. This anxiety is present in lots of films of that era. You can bet this aspect of popular culture was not organic, but manufactured in order to pave the way for the eventual sabotage of the Japanese economy by the U.S. largely by means of the plaza accords.

More likely military industry multinationals, like Boeing, Lockheed, General Electric, etc, at least based on the time period O’bannon and Ridley Scott created alien in.
