Well, that’s certainly a quick way of identifying anti-communists… that’s true. Worth always remembering that Nazis are anti-communists… and anti-communists are Nazis. Same thing. Anyone who actively takes the side of “anti-communism” is just straight out saying they sympathize with or are a Nazi. Really no wiggle room there. If they’re educated enough on political theory to know they’re anti-communist then they know all the baggage that brings. (And for libs reading, no, this doesn’t mean anyone who doesn’t identify as a communist or generally doesn’t want communism to be implemented is a Nazi necessarily. Not agreeing with communists is totally different from being anti-communist. If I hear anyone say “I’m anti-communist” I don’t need to ask anything else. They already believe all the Nazi talking points so discourse is basically pointless plus they probably want to kill me.)

As gross as this whole ordeal has been, on some level it is very satisfying to see liberals finally forced to confront reality and having their minds burn a few fuses in the process because they’re effectively historically illiterate.

Also, prior to the ongoing war, Ukrainians were constantly on the back burner in stories like this one where grandpa Miroslav was given a whimsical name like “Miroslav the Jew Slayer” during the second world war. Truly a national hero! He needs a monument! This stuff was known for a while, and no it doesn’t make all Ukrainians Nazis, but it was a fucking problem then and it remains a problem that was never dealt with and in many respects was encouraged in Canada similar to anti-communist (that word again…) Cuban exiles in the US and confederates after the civil war (and later efforts to redeem the confederates’ image with the daughters of the confederacy type shit). It’s all the same white washing of right wing ideology and historical crimes, usually trying to spread blame around, deny specific things if they can’t blame it on others, but always doing it with a wink and a nod to the in-group who knows exactly what’s going on. Gross all around.
