IMO, HBO’s “Chernobyl” is basically propaganda in the theme of “REEE Soviets bad! Look at how close they came to destroying the world!” But did they actually?

Thunderf00t is definitely not perfect and there’s a lot of stuff he posts I disagree with (his criticism of feminism stuff and “SJW” stuff, not to mention general anticommunism/anti-USSR), but IMO his science stuff is still pretty good.

I didn’t watch Chernobyl myself, but I had comrades tell me about it and I read reviews and discussions about it, and I was honestly so appalled at the blatantly wrong portrayal of the insident. From memory, they leave out a lot of valuable information, pin it as Soviet communist negligence wherein the officials cheaped out on everything then knowingly endangered everyone, and then pretend the fallout was worse than it actually was. (please correct me if I’ve misremembered the things I read/heard).

And to boot, the people who don’t understand nuclear energy and think it’s just dangerous watched it and are completely sold on their bullshit biases now.
