Some necessary context is that the Solomon Islands recently struck a deal with China to provide military aid (I’m not sure on the details of which, I think it’s that they invite China to station troops in case of a major event to the security of the islands) and that didn’t please AUKUS, especially the AU part, who think of these islands as their backyard.
