For the newbies, this is what you call fake news - the first indication of that is that this is CNN. Not the part that Russia is building a huge drone fleet, that is true. However Russia is NOT getting drones from Iran, Russia does not need drones from Iran, it has its own domestic manufacturing that is quite a bit more sophisticated than what Iran can produce, particularly in EW countermeasures (not denigrating Iran, they have made some impressive strides in a number of military technologies). This is propaganda to try and simultaneously portray Russia as weak, to demonize Iran, and to excuse the West’s own failure in this proxy war. They also peddle the same lie about the DPRK giving weapons to Russia for the same reasons. The reality is that if weapons transfers are happening it’s the other way around. Russia is a huge weapons exporter and a global leader in various fields of military technology. It is far more likely that Iran, DPRK and even China are getting weapons from Russia than vice versa.

Iran does have some very advanced drones, but you’re 100% right. They aren’t giving them to Russia, as Russia has plenty of domestic drone manufacturing capabilities, far larger than Iran’s.

This seems like setup for yet another “axis of evil” involving Russia, Iran and China. Would be hilarious if the US tried to attack all three at once when they can’t beat any of them individually in their wargames, without stacking the deck massively in their own favour.
