I have never understood the obsession with steak its so incredibly boring and mediocre even when cooked perfectly. There are so many better ways to use beef, skewers, hotpot, stir fried, braised etc. and honestly pork and lamb are just better than beef anyway.

      I never have either.

I started paying attention to politics in the 1980s. I never liked the republican mindset but the last couple decades have been beyond weird for me. The American rightwing has normalized cult-like thinking. Steak along with meat itself have become insanely rightwing coded. If a couple of rightwing guys go to get dinner not only do they have to choose a manly restaurant to let everybody know they aren’t gay - they have to order manly food. If Chud1 orders shrimp is that okay? Is shrimp manly enough? Does Chud2 think to himself " I’m gonna have a slab o’ meat. Why didn’t he order that like me? Why’d he order that pussy food? Is there something wrong with him?"

Even outside the chudspace a lot of westerners at least online always seem to have steak on this pedestal as this amazing food when it’s not even the best way to prepare beef which itself isn’t even the best meat.

I agree that beef isnt the best meat and while steak might be boring I also can see why a lot of people consider it a solid meal. With that said my favourite steak is not beef. Its tuna. (Coming from someone who does eat steak at solid steakhouses on occasion)

Yeah as I said steak is not bad I just don’t really understand why so many people seem to idolize it in the way they do. Maybe my tastebuds are too Chinese pilled for steak.

If I’m ever in a situation like this, I’m ordering a salad to let them know I’m the gayest of all of them. That’s the true way to assert dominance.

Yeah and that’s fine I think steak is far from the worst (chicken breast) but its just put on such a pedestal by western media and social media and I just dont get it.

Chicken breast is good as a protein to add to other stuff, like chili and tacos.

Steak is best when you pair it with some hardy sides like a baked potato or asparagus.

Or you get a big glass of water and slop it up!

I stopped eating meat years ago but when I did steak was still something I’d just avoid. Even if done right it’s just bland and boring. So many better options.

It can be good if it’s made well but idk why it’s considered this holy grail of meat dishes by so many. Also I agree pork is better.
