❗️Netanyahu tells Washington any US-Iran deal won’t stop Israel’s offensive in Lebanon
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly told senior US officials that any future agreement between Washington and Tehran would not limit Israel’s military operations in Lebanon, according to Israel Hayom. This comes after Iran communicated through mediators that Lebanon should be included in any ceasefire deal between the US and Israel.
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel intends to continue targeting Lebanese territory, regardless of a US-Iran deal, and rejected a French proposal to pause the offensive in exchange for diplomatic support from Paris. A senior Israeli official said the US has accepted Israel’s position, noting that Lebanon “does not matter” to President Trump.
Netanyahu reportedly sees the current moment as a strategic opportunity to push Hezbollah forces beyond the Litani River, aiming to strengthen Israel’s access to key Lebanese territory. Despite these ambitions, Israeli forces have been unable to maintain a foothold in any southern Lebanese village and casualties continue to be reported after resistance operations along the north.
