It’s incredibly telling that it’s not about which side you’re on at this point, it’s just pure hatred towards anything Russian. That’s it. Because the movie does not take a pro-Russia stance and the director said she was on Ukraine’s side, so what’s the problem? It shows Russians as people and apparently that’s bad. I feel like because our government and its organizations are incredibly Russophobic that they’re trying to make that sentiment the norm. At least that’s what I’m thinking, hopefully I’m wrong.
Importantly, the war exposed the hatred that was clearly already there. It just wasn’t polite to openly hate Russians before, and once the taboo was dropped then we started to see the true face of the west.
