    Not even in the case of a technical fuck up? Or one of those automated second strike systems getting a false positive?

        See, those close calls are partially what I meant. I know there’s been several - in USSR and USA both. But it seems that back then people had a somewhat clearer idea of just what a war is, why it is terrible, and and why a nuclear war is absolutely unthinkable. But present day decision makers? We’re dealing with people who don’t seem to understand that a “no fly zone” means “shooting down things there”. We’re dealing with"think tanks" and media posting articles and pieces on why a “limited nuclear exchange wouldn’t be so bad actually”. Note the language even. Not war, not bombardment, not scorching hell which will bring global starvation even if we survive past the original few moments. Exchange.
