UK is not nearly safe from invasion as they would want to think. Historically, they took note from the Spanish Armada attempt, which was failed because weather and incompetence of spanish commanders* and later build three things needed for island nation to defend from the invasion - strong navy, strong spy network and strong diplomacy. Now they have shit navy, and their spies and diplomats work more for US than UK. They also of course don’t have any candidates for invading them, as single glance on the map would show.
*Fun facts: 1. English navy which is credited for repelling the invasion managed to sunk entire grand amount of TWO ships in the open battle (of which one iirc was also blown up due to accident with handling blackpowder). 2. Spanish army at the time if managed to properly land and be provided support would most likely completely crushed the English.
