Nothing to be sorry about; personally I’m more than aware of all this (which is why I said “not entirely serious.”) This was at least on some large level, bait- not for you though, since you’re sensible.

That said- I won’t deny, corrective action by darkening of skin is something I can’t not find at least partially desirable, though it’s neither a moral position nor a overly serious take on it- I am aware how problematic it is as a take, and I judge people by an individual basis. But that’s my take as someone raised as an extreme minority (Asian in rural Canadian prairies), as someone who is seeing a rise in anti-Asian hate and Sinophobia, and someone who has dealt with issues of alienation all my life. Race may be a construct, but it’s a exceedingly dangerous construct that undeniably we’ll still be struggling with, as a species, for hundreds of years into the future, and which is brutally, tangibly felt in our “post-colonial” world- we aren’t playing the exact same game of life here, that’s just the honest truth as I see it, white skin is not lesser, but with whiteness and the allure of western acceptance comes a far greater level of risk- and that’s before we get into the heritage and ongoing traditions of racism and genocide of the western white world which makes things even more compromised yet.

Is it problematic? Yeah. Is it a hill I’d die on? No, not really. But for all the issues it has, diluting of the artificial construct that is whiteness is both a reduction of risk IMO, and- perhaps just as importantly- it’s utterly hilarious.
