I feel, personally, that when it comes to burning of religious texts, it’s kind of like racism. There’s obviously a clear difference between burning an Islamic text and burning a Christian text. And in this case, it’s being done by a fascist.

That’s exactly it. It’s not about getting along since we have friends of all types and religions in the west. By assimilation they mean cheering on or taking part in the destruction of our own homelands (and the homelands of others) and a lot of us thankfully have a spine and hate imperialism.
There is no quicker path to supporting imperialism than assimilating into western liberal culture. And they know this, which is why they are so angry when immigrants don’t culturally assimilate.
Concrete example, liberals were so mad at LeBron James for not criticizing China as if he should lockstep follow the opinions of NYT or the Economist. Earlier examples are Mohammad Ali, Paul Robeson, etc. I am sure there are more. And these examples aren’t even immigrants. They are/ were more American than most Americans in terms of ancestry.
