It really is weird how according to western media Russia is falling apart, but at the same time it just keeps getting an upper hand in Ukraine and apparently becoming a threat to all of Europe. None of this makes any sense. And there’s also the whole related argument how NATO has to keep supporting Ukraine because otherwise NATO will have to fight Russia directly. Given that NATO is very clearly losing in Ukraine, what hope could it possibly have of fighting Russia after Ukraine folds. This was the biggest and most experience army NATO had.

It is a pretty old trope. Anticommunists want all the privileges that come from facing a strong enemy and a weak one, failing to realize that portraying the enemy as both strong and weak is confusing at best. They were repeatedly engaged in the same illogic when they were focussing on antifascist activists back in the late ’10s.
