This is not a discussion about if Iraq was better under him or U.S imperialism since it was obviously better under saddam and he shouldn’t have been dethroned. I am asking about your takes on Saddam since some considering him a fascist. I want Your thoughts what what justifies his action to you.

An international political economy professor in Canada provided some interesting information about Saddam Husain: 1) He used to have good relation with American government by buying military supplies from USA; 2) USA decided to overthrow him after Saddam decided to nationalize oil in his country; 3) refugees from Iraq reported that the Saddam’s reign has better living condition than today. From these information, I could guess that Saddam Husain is one of the ‘not really evil person who the USA government overthrow for sake of profit’.

Yes he was a US ally and iirc Donald Rumsfeld (during the Reagan years) praised him. The US was basically using him against Iran, because the west has an irrational hatred of Iran.

When he started to try things like nationalize oil, that’s when the west started to turn on him
