yes of course, but i mean people in the right who traditionally hate jews, for some reason are zionists now

yesterday i came across some stupid right winger in my city who knows a friend of mine and my friend told him he went to see roger waters and he said something like waters is being an antisemite and i swear i’ve heard that fuck say shit about jews a few times in the past

On the contrary, zionism is a deeply antisemitic projet. The British Empire was so happy to help colonizing Palestine because it would mean all European Jews could leave. The project is that instead of fixing prejudice against Jews in Europe, they want them to have a state so they can go to that place, abandoning their real roots and lifestyle. Part of the answer to Zionism is actually to destroy anti-Semitism at home so that no one will urge Jewish people to abandon their real land and people, which is whatever nation and community they were raised to.

No because it takes colonial/class analysis which basic antisemites are totally oblivious too. Though historically, rich and powerful antisemites had interests in investing in the colonial project. And most importantly, a genuine Jewish person supporting Zionism is only harming their own people by legitimising their alienation from their real land

          • ah, I see; there’s definitely some cognitive dissonance involved for a lot of anti-Jewish people who support “Israel” (aside from those who realized that “Israel” is only using Judaism as an excuse, but I don’t think there are many of them among that crowd), but there’s also the bizarre belief among some anti-Jewish Christians that “Israel” will somehow trigger the second coming of Jesus (I don’t remember what the argument was), condemning all non-Christians to hell

The Death Cult logic is as followes. When all jews are back in Israel, they’ll build another temple. Armageddon ensues (they’ll see it as big war of muslims vs. jews) can the death cultists rise to heaven. Completely batshit insane.

Another factor here is, people on the far right like ethno-states. They want their own ethnostate and they would also like Jews to go away, so it’s a win-win for them. They get to point to a modern ethnostate as a model (see Zelensky talking about Israel being the model for Ukraine’s future) and whitewash their own antisemitism through their support for zionism.
