Long time lurker, first post on here, and was wondering if anyone had any reliable sources that speak about the Soviet role in the creation of Israel. I’ve seen some claims around the interwebs about how the soviets armed the Zionists against the Arabs in the region. Is there any validity to this claim? I’m having a difficult time finding sources that I personally trust on this, and would love to hear your thoughts on it as well.
Gromyko is mostly to blame, stalin was against the issue but didn’t push it too much and the poliburo overruled on the matter. They only pledged to have devoted resources if the UN decided to help Israel be created.
