Burkina Faso army Captain Ibrahim Traore has ousted military leader Paul-Henri Damiba and dissolved the government in the West African country's second coup in eight months, he said in a statement read on national television on Friday evening.
My heart really goes out to everyone in Burkina Faso. According to Wikipedia the current govt came to power in January this year through their own coup, vowing to defeat a jihadist insurgency. The military then got tired of him because he wasn’t succeeding, as of this month the jihadists and other rebels control just under half of the country. I’m not finding much about the previous govts foreign policy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were pro Russia/China and that’s why there’s a well funded jihadist insurgency causing it to be destabilized.
