Media tells them to. That’s it. Most intellectual leftists in my country just read leftist media and call it a day. When you ask them about Marx, Engels, Lenin, Mao, Luxemburg, Trotsky even etc they haven’t read it. Being in favor of green policy and not working yourself to death and not wishing bad things on gay people and refugees does not make you left per se. Just progressive. But our neoliberal party in charge also can be progressive.
