To celebrate August 24 Vladimir Zelensky took to Instagram to upload a series of portraits of commanders born in post-Soviet Ukraine.

Unsurprisingly one serviceman’s image, alongside his full name and credentials, was pictured wearing a Nazi insignia of the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division.

That unit of the SS recruited primarily Ukrainian collaborators, and has been accused of committing several massacres in Poland.

The US has always been okay with Nazis. America is the premier fascist state, a first proto type of it’s kind. Hitler and the various fascists and proto fascists in imperial Germany modelled their ideology and political ambitions off of the United states. We don’t think of the US as a fascist state because 1. The US obviously works overtime in it’s PR to keep people from thinking that way and 2. Fascism here has already succeeded. The mass genocide and brutal forced settlement has already happened and finished. We’re just living in the aftermath of that horrible and disgusting history, just like the Germans would be living in in an alternate world 50 years after they won WW2.
