So you’re another one of those ‘anything but an AES state’ types, if not just an absolute fuckin lib. What are you, some kind of martyr fetishist? The only activists you can get it up for got to have failed their movements and been re-subsumed by the Great Satan? China has never tried to surveil me. Never sent the feds to my home. Never made me worry about whether the next time I leave my house is when I get publicly lynched because the settlers aren’t house-broken anymore. Y’know who has done all that, though? Amerika.

So nah, my solidarity’s with the activists working toward bettering this planet, regardless of how close they are with China. Never a State Department-controlled rag like the Times, or anyone who ups that garbage. Death to it.

        debate pervert

This isn’t debatable, cac. You bring no evidence of your claims other than ‘bro trust me’. As a matter of fact, what I remember out of china during COVID was the zero-COVID policy that saw the country locked down to a much stronger degree than Amerika until their cases had burnt out-- which hey, they did faster rather than letting a bunch of superspreader petri dishes move about the country!

As for the most surveilled country, that’s a fucking laugh when I can’t walk through any city in this country and not pass by two dozen cameras a block from the storefronts to the street crossings. When people are getting pulled off Amerikan streets wrongfully because facial identification mis-identified them.

As for the supposed ‘dragging people out of their homes’, that’s even more of a laugh in the age of no-knock warrants killing Afrikans in their beds-- but that’s all your people know how to do.

        Projection.

You came in here immediately spitting on a sovereign nation in defense of a propaganda rag. I don’t have to take your chauvinism seriously for a second, hypocrite.

Your source is literally from China mate. No way that they’d have a pro-China viewpoint.

Atleast mines from the UK: Source

And they estimate that number to be over 540 million cameras nationwide…or around 373 cameras per 1,000 people.

Lmao “your source is from China so it’s not truthful, mine is from the UK, they wouldn’t lie or misrepresent facts about their official enemy”.

From the report that the article cites.

According to the data analysed by PreciseSecurity.com and collected by CompariTech

Both companies are from the UK.

As an aside, journalists for news organisations rarely do research on their own. More often they ingest studies done by other dedicated organisations and reproduce them in a form that appeals to their audience. When scrutinising news articles it’s good to see what the primary source is.

If we’re comparing US to China I tried to use a source outside of both countries. I’d expect it to massage the wording a bit on some stuff (especially in an effort to avoid making the UK look bad) but I would think that the numbers aren’t terribly off.

Look, if we were discussing cameras in the UK. This wouldn’t be my go to source. I also dont want to use a Chinese source on Chinese surveillance…you know that they monitor what goes out of China…

Your first comment in response to mine stated that the US had more cameras per capita. I pointed out that your source was from a Chinese newspaper and provided where I got my source from.

We don’t like each other’s sources. I claimed that atleast mine was not coming from either of the two countries (US and China)
