They kinda suck, but you have to make sure to place them on a completely flat and horizontal surface, and use it in the same place every time. Keeps the variance down a bit.

Unconditional support to our trans comrades.

I’m no doctor, it’s best to ask whoever gave you the diagnosis. But generally salt should be fine AFAIK, just not excessive amounts of salt.
Not sure, but excessive salt is generally not very easy on the stomach.
I’ll try to do more research on what counts as “processed.” Please no MAGA shit if you recommend me anything, but yeah, I’ll do my own research, of course. You know how labels and buzz words get misused, of course.
Oh yeah, I definitely agree there. The way people rail against “processed” food like it has some sort of malignant metaphysical property pisses me off.
I meant more so in the sense that ready-made foods at the supermarkets like mock-meats and such tend to have a high salt and fat content (because the companies want them to taste good if you eat them as-is). Nothing you can’t quickly check off the back of the package.
What the fuck? I like veganism and always respected the movement since way back, but you think that this could be related?
It was just light-hearted jest (hence the /s), but maybe in poor taste. My bad.
Anti-inflammatory, eh?
Regarding the recipes, I was going off of what you and @Maeve@lemmygrad.ml were mentioning regarding low-fat, easy-on-the-stomach foods which is why I recommended that website since it has quite a few recipes that I think would be suitable.
I’m no doctor and I don’t know about stomach ulcers specifically, I was just recommending food that is pretty easy on the stomach in a general sense.
And these are your recipes?
They’re not my recipes, I just think they’re pretty good and well-labelled. They also have a youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thenarddogcooks
Tbh, I do like plant-based meat, though maybe it’s still disgusting to you…
I don’t mind plant-based mock-meats at all, I eat them occasionally (though if they’re super-realistic, it does put me off a bit).
I think if you have a sensitive stomach right now it’s still probably better to eat whole foods since processed stuff tends to have a lot of salt and fat in it, which might not be helpful, but I’m not sure.
Critical support to stomach ulcers furthering the vegan cause. 🫡 /s
On a serious note, it’s as good an opportunity as any to try out delicious plant-based recipes. I recommend checking out https://makeitdairyfree.com/recipes. They have a lot of anti-inflammatory recipes, all allergens and sensitivities clearly listed, and many fairly easy/quick healthy recipes with a lot of variety.
Hope you feel better soon.

The Deprogram•[Weekly Discussion Thread] The China Episode - Episode 222English
16·13 days agoI am not sure if you have listened to the episode, but that is a very unfair takeaway imo. A large portion of the runtime is spent on debunking ultra-left criticisms.
I’m not sure what the other evidence is that you’re referring to in general. I haven’t really noticed much aside from them not pushing back enough against a couple sus guests, one of them I vaguely remember saying they regretted how it went.
Tangent
While I don’t really listen to it as much anymore, I think the podcast gets treated too harshly here on the 'Grad. It is an ML podcast that is easy to get into, and the hosts repeatedly make themselves very clear to the listeners that they should be moving on to more advanced material and to get organised (while avoiding common pitfalls especially in the west). They speak often about how their listeners should outgrow them and that their strategy is to “move people further down the funnel”.
I’m not going to get too much into it. I actually wanted to make a discussion post about the topic of podcasts, videos, tiktoks, and other “content” at some point because I’ve seen quite a few comments on Lemmygrad over the past year that I believe have a wrong read on this topic.

Comradeship // Freechat•How would you redesign dating apps?English
4·14 days agoThere are already Open Source dating apps. You might be interested in checking out their implementations and how they address the questions you’re asking.
The most-used one appears to be, of all things, the 4chan dating app Duolicious. Here’s a link to a “KnowYourMeme” article describing what it is. It had a lot of discussion around it and seemingly a lot of active users.
The other is Alovoa which has been around for a long time, and is the one that usually comes up when you search for Open Source dating apps. I’m not sure if it actually has an active user-base though.
I think this actually highlights an important point, which is that attempts at creating generic alternatives are a lot less likely to succeed compared to targeted ones. Even the big companies realise this. You see more and more dating apps popping up in different countries targetted at muslims, lesbians, vegans, black people, and so on.
People tired of Tinder & Co. are more likely to find and try your app if it’s the one that comes up when they search “flat-earther dating app” (if that’s what appeals to them) as opposed to randomly choosing one of the dozens of generic dating apps.
4chan’s conditions are especially unique in that it has a specific site culture, a very large user-base, and it’s a forum/imageboard which means that the app already had a place to market itself to all 4chan users. This is probably why it became successful.
Ultimately, I think that’s more important than the specific discovery mechanics of the apps. They become less relevant anyway as you’re already filtering a lot of people by using a more niche app.
In a lot of countries and cities you might find only a handful of people in your region to begin with, and it’s more likely that you’d meet them and talk since you already have a common ground, as opposed to endlessly swiping through hundreds of profile.

ProleWiki•Suggestion for a weekly essay discussion thread.English
1·16 days agoI also have some writings here https://criticalresist.substack.com/archive that I eventually wanted to port over to the prolewiki essays space, if there’s anything you find there that you like I can import it so it can become part of the weekly discussion.
I have only skimmed them so far, but I do like the articles you have on design thinking such as the redesigning ProleWiki article and “How to positively operate within constraints”. I also find the “What I’ve learned from working with ProleWiki” and “How Vietnam decolonized and what we can learn from their struggle” quite interesting.
I’m not sure if they would benefit from discussion, as I see them as more educational in the sense of taking away lessons from them to apply, rather than different currents and points of views to discuss, but I may be wrong.
PS: on desktop tap the 0 key on the keyboard to enter distraction-free reading mode, and try out the gear icon as well for sepia theme and bigger font :)
I already use the sepia theme, but I also recently learned that the neobrutalist theme you demoed a while ago is actually on the website! I thought it was just a mockup screenshot. It’s a lot more polished than I expected as well. I actually turn it on from time to time for fun just to see how different the pages look, lol. Though I don’t actually use it when reading.
Does anyone have a good read on the current situation with Pakistan and Afghanistan?

ProleWiki•Suggestion for a weekly essay discussion thread.English
2·18 days agoDo you have a suggestion for the pilot thread? I think it should be a topic that someone already wants to talk about so it can kick-start the discussion. I’d appreciate it if you could ask other ProleWiki members/authors for suggestions!
I don’t want to pick something at random, because there’s no guarantee that others would be interested. For future threads, people can suggest essays for the next weeks (if the pilot is successful).
