This reminds me of the discourse around John Oliver.

When I criticize him for shitting on AES, people reply with “well, he has to do that in order to keep his show!”

Then what’s the point of having a show?

Madeleine and her podcast are pretty much gold standard for ML education imo aside from books.

I’d second this, Pick Me Up I’m Scared and Blowback are excellent for learning actual history which is essential, not optional, for understanding the current historical moment.

It’s truly excellent, I’d say start with their season on Cuba. I really love how they juxtapose all their information with real media soundbites from the time. It’s enough to permanently disillusion one of the concept of the fReE pREss; privately owned media doesn’t need capitalist governments to directly tell them what to say and print because their interests are those of capital so their goals align anyways (though sometimes they WILL just tell them what to do).

Very good video. Pretty much the textbook ML position on participation in bourgeois elections. No notes. 100% agree.

Overall a great video, and she did go over this a bit, but it should be stressed that our participation should be limited to

    • Supporting our own candidates in our own working-class parties (IE not the democrats or any capitalist party). These “bourgeios socialists” like AOC, bernie, and mamdani, are not educated enough to realize that by calling themselves “socialists” while running in a capitalist party, they’re watering down the definition to mean just a more equitable sharing of the imperial spoils. None of them are advocating ending the US war machine.
    • that it should be used only as a platform to spread socialist ideas, which of course can’t come about through the system of bourgeios democracy.

A common tactic of US imperialist and western supremacist socialists, is to ignore the history of the failure of capitalist-party-entryism, especially in the imperial core. Lenin’s advice to the british communists stressed both above, and still ultimately didn’t work out, due to the bribery of the labor aristocracy from the spoils of imperialism.

I find it refreshing and nice rather than the usual grumpy “he’s not a communist” I see often from comrades.

i’ll still share the memes of a communist times square, a man can dream

She is nice because she is trying to introduce these concepts to those unaware but interested, while “grumpy” retorts are given by communists to other self-appointed communists. Usally discipline is tonally harsher than being taught for the first time.

Every single “Democrat” socialist capitulates to Zionists when push comes to shove, including the supposedly anti-Zionist ones.
