    I know a few leftists who did. One specialized in the history of colonialism. I majored in economics. All it taught me is that (1) business majors are sociopaths and (2) capitalism is without morals.

    Yes I majored in history. Studying history is useful because it teaches you how to analyze sources for credibility, which most leftists of all stripes are grotesquely incapable of doing, how to do historical research in general, how to evaluate historical arguments (it’s honestly painful watching libcom writers try to make historical arguments), and so on and so forth.

    People on the left like to say “history is a weapon” but then they have no interest in learning how to wield this weapon, both as propaganda and as source material for analysis.

    At least at my college history was a very writing-intensive major. It sort of burned me out on writing for a few years.
