    Is it really “deepen” or is it “we won’t be bullied away from a trade partner and continue as usual”? Cause to me, " deepen" would be actually significant increases in what they are willing to do to aid Russia. It still sounds like they only intend to maintain trade. That they still do not intend to send anything to aid in the war. At most they will do what they can to keep Russia afloat so they can keep the west tied up there and not allow them as much focus on Taiwan.

      Yeah a better framing for this would be to say that China is remaining firm in its current stance, and isn’t intending to change its position.

      Maybe “deeper ties” will come in the form of political advisors teaching Mao Zedong thought and Dengism. ( a boy can dream)
