At least with the US and UK I can take confidence in the fact that things have never been good. The most basic dignities for any demographic have only been clawed away from capital at gunpoint and the entire system is dedicated to the eradication of those human rights. It would be doubly infuriating if I had a comprehensive alternative that actually existed and was stolen by the same fucking freaks who think I’m subhuman for advocating for human rights. Even if you take the most absurd ahistorical approach to the Soviet Union, the basic numbers say my neighbours would be equal humans to me with equal opportunity to do great things. If it takes unlimited Romanovs being led into basements and unlimited kulaks being composted into their stolen fields, the basic recognition that my coworker is the same species as me would be worth it and I can’t even tie that ambition to a universally-accepted example. I don’t think I could stomach being a Russian communist who’s capital R bold-italics fuck you have some statistics Right.
best time in a country’s history
The country is Russia
I mean, it’s not like the USSR had a lot of competition for “best times in Russia”
The Pax Americana claim is that most people in former USSR states are happy without USSR regardless of their nationality or ethnicity. Despite their absurd slander against the Communists, Pax Americana had rarely accuse the USSR of favaoritism by ethnicity or nationality. If the enemy did not accuse the USSR of racism despite their slanderous habit, then the likelihood is that the opinions of Russians could represent the opinions of other ethnic groups in the former USSR states.
But those were in the pre-Pizza Hut days, how could that possibly be their greatest time!?
Seriously though, not really that surprising given what we often hear from people who had lived in more than the dying gasp of the soviet union. I might be a little bit surprised because I thought liberal talking points had penetrated the younger generation more, but that seems to not be the case. I would probably need to read more details on the poll though to be honest.
Eh, sorta if you were like around the early 2000s. That was very much the case, but i would say starting around the 2010s the Russian youths opinion on liberalism largely began to sour. This, combined with the continual deterioration of living conditions within Russia (which, even by Bourgeoise metrics that only count GDP per capita, hasnt recovered back to its 1980s level USSR.) as well as the increasing obvious material degradation of the west has led to much of the Russian youths to largely be turned of by liberalism and domestic capitalist populism, with many instead turning to socialist movements, like the KPRF, instead.
Now has the russian government taken steps to surpress the growing socialists movements within Russia, yes, but there’s only so much they can do, especially nowadays where Russia’s main trade partner, China, can and has exerted significantly levels to political influence to largely deter any form of significant repressions against the main socialist political forces within Russia (e.g., the KPRF)
