I’m currently locked in a PBEM struggle on War in the East 2 (It’s playing out on YouTube if you want the link!)

Started a West German campaign in Flashpoint Campaigns.

Defending in a War in the West campaign.

Failing badly at Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa

…and playing a casual Wildermyth game (not a war game, but meh)

What are you folks into these days?

Absolutely would not consider it a “war game”, its mostly economy and internal faction management with possibly the worst ever designed war system in history as a side activity.

Understood. I don’t mind a good 4K game every now and then.

I think it is known as the one most beloved by communists. Mainly because communism has always been an OP ideology in the game and one of the devs is a leftist if I’m not mistaken. I could be making that up though.

Is that game still alive? Haven’t heard much from it in a while. I had a blast with it about a year ago and i’ve been thinking about downloading it again

This looks interesting! I’m terrible with Tactical games or FPS. My main love is top down turn based or WEGO operational and above.

It’s been a while since I’ve played any games, but the Vox Populi mod for Civ 5 improves the game so much it’s basically a new one now. Literally spent 700 hours on a game that cost me 15 bucks because of a free mod. The Historical Immersion Project mod for Crusader Kings 2 really helps out with non-French-Catholic mechanics in that game too, if you like those.

Also technically not a traditional War Game, Battle for Wesnoth is a FOSS tactics game similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem. I didn’t really enjoy the campaign due to turncount limits, but it’s really good to play PvP.

The Vox Populi mod looks interesting, and looks like a rabbit hole I might fall down when I have some downtime. I own CKII, but haven’t opened it in years (steam tells me since 2018!), so maybe that’s another one I should dive in to.

I haven’t had much luck with mods…well specifically Black Ice for HOI 3, but since it’s been ages since I played either of these, it might be worth a try.

When I had a spare time, I loved to play command and conquer generals, witch China of course. It is too pity that it has no sequel. A great game
