South Africa abstained. There goes BRICS, out the window.

Armenia voted in favour. Moldova voted in favour. Kyrgyzstan abstained. Tajikistan abstained. Ubzekistan abstained. There goes the Commonwealth of Independent States, gone apart from Russia and Belarus.

Iran abstained! Cuba abstained! I mean, how remarkable is that?

Putin remains a master strategist and a geopolitical genius.

I eagerly await tankie downvotes. 😜

Do you know how many countries are applying to join BRICS this year?

The idea that it would fall apart over a disagreement like this one (even if it were portrayed correctly) relies on a misconception.

BRICS works with a different logic to NATO/EU, etc. Where Anglo-Europeans seek domination and subsidiaries, BRICS is about partnership. And before anyone says that China has a different policy, China regularly insists on and upholds the principal of partnership. As can be seen in ASEAN, as well.

The US toddler cannot stand to be criticised, challenged, or ignored. The adults of the rest of the world, however, understand the meaning of diplomacy. Even if the reporting here were accurate (which doesn’t seem to be the case), BRICS members could either work towards a solution or park the disagreement. If this were not the case, BRICS could never have worked to begin with, considering some fundamental, ideological differences between it’s members.

What, is it an imperialist invasion only if it uses imperial units to measure invaded territory? Otherwise it’s just sparkling “special operation”? 🤔

I protested against US imperialist invasion in Irak, I protest against Russian imperialist invasion in Ukraine. I can walk and chew gum. I can call imperialism what it is regardless of what pretenses it uses to justify itself, and what color is the window dressing. The world is a bit more complex than “Blue Team vs. Red Team”.

Wow that’s a lot of tankies descending on this here threat to downvote… what exactly, I wonder? The voting record is a documented fact. Same with information on which countries belong to BRICS or the CIS. So what exactly is the downvote related to? 🤔

        “I don’t like it and I’m angry”?

        South Africa abstained.

While threatening to arrest Putin if visiting BRICS summit in South Africa, executing the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC)

You say this as if South Africa is somehow turning on Russia, or that their leadership is impressed with the ICC, when really it is a complex legal and politcal matter people have been debating since well before the war in Ukraine.
