My college buddy drove a Yugo. His wife stripped reverse and because one was working ft so the other could attend college pt, it stayed broke until they both finished college. We all loved that car 150 US round trip miles per week, $15 (this was pre G.W. Bush).

Both get way too much hate. Trabant was modern and cheap when it was unveiled

I drove in both for quite some time and Yugo, while clunky, was a far better and modern car than Trabant which was pretty old by then. Trabant was also a pretty bad smelly two stroke, which sounded hilariously ridiculous.

Peak, but Trabant is from DDR and Yugo is from Yugoslavia(obviously), not USSR.

trabant’s east german, not soviet… also, it was dogshit. but durable (in its own way) and cheap to run/repair, back when there were a lot of them.

we had two of them when i was little.

heeeeeeey! that’s a pic of a 4-stroke trabant, i think. fake trabant! FAKE 90s TRABANT! everyone, look, they’re trying to fool us with this fake trabant!

    Yugo is Yugoslavian, not Soviet.

But for me, it’s the Lada.
