    Oh you know, China and Vietnam have been mutual enemies a very long time ago (during the Dai Viet times) and redditors hate China just because; so they decided to include China.

      China actually did have a brief military skirmish with Vietnam after the Vietnam War ended. There’s still some resentment on both sides. But when it comes to modern politics, Vietnam decided to stay neutral between China and the US at the moment.

    China did actually invade Vietnam in response to the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia during which Vietnam aimed to take down the Khmer Rouge. Albeit the offensive lasted only a month as Vietnamese resistance was much stiffer then expected and the Chinese retreated after declaring they had preformed a successful show of force.

    Japan would have been a significantly better choice. They were a true enemy of Vietnam, and wrecked havoc on the people and country for years.
