I usually buy a few samples since 1ml lasts longer than it sounds, but this is the only thing I’ve ever bought a full bottle of:

https://sucreabeille.com/products/blood-and-bone-with-old-gods-of-appalachia

Beyond that, I really like Imaginary Authors, particularly Sundrunk and Slow Explosions. Really want to try their new glacier named fragrance too, but they aren’t selling sample sizes yet :(

Normally I like outdoorsy, foresty, or watery scents. What are your favorites?

I specifically like the smell of when I’m hiking in the woods and come across a grove of pine trees

from comments in a prior thread, i’m waiting for an Imaginary Authors sampler-- excited to smell like a bougie ice cream cone.

but back in the day, i got laid once explicitly simply by using Old Spice after shave; incredible bang for the buck, as it were.

I like floral colognes. The best I’ve found so far is this knock-off of a really expensive one called Layton by Parfums de Marly: https://us.oilperfumery.com/products/parfums-de-marly-layton

It’s a lovely unisex mix of jasmine, vanilla, citrus, sandalwood, lavender, and violet.

That same store does another good knock-off of my other favourite, Dior Fahrenheit: https://us.oilperfumery.com/products/christian-dior-fahrenheit . This one is more traditionally masculine-coded. It’s still a really complex and florally-dominated scent but there’s a big pine and musk element. Unlike the real thing, which I think is out of production now, their knock-off adds more floral counterweight to that. It has a great jasmine and lily of the valley smell. But the difference between the two is like a sour versus a dark beer.

Where/how do you all acquire this stuff? I’ve never really gotten into it but I think my partner might like for me to spruce up sometimes, I’m a bit of a lout most of the time. Real peasant energy. You just order online?

I used to think I liked YSL Y, but it’s given me nausea several times and possibly made me vomit once. I even bought the Arab knockoff from Lataffah and that shit made me nauseous as well lol.

Currently I like Ameer al Oud (a clone of By the Fireplace), although it might smell too much like a fireplace (and possibly incense) lol. I like it because it has caramel notes, but I think it’s off putting for others.

I might consider Vicebomb because it’s cherry and caramel which sounds good to me lol, although I’ve read that cherry scents can come off as medicinal. It’s also $200 for 100 mL which is insane lol. But really I’m in the market for something cherry and not too feminine. Montagne and Dossier are cheaper alternatives that I’ve heard good things about, but the fragrance world has too many shills that it’s hard to find honest opinions.

I’m actually a really big fan of my Moscow Rouge. Some friends got it for me after I showed them the Lady izidhar video on it and it actually smells really nice!

yuzu is nice. I don’t think it’s inherently better than other citrusy fragrances at all but it is something different to what a typical citrus smells like which is nice

I got a sampler pack of colognes from Dollar Shave Club five wait, six seven years ago, and there’s a vanilla, suede and cacao one in there that’s been my go-to when I need to fancy it up

All I know about it is that it’s called No.203 #202 and it smells pretty damn good for something I only spent like $30 on

Sandalwood. I use sandalwood-scented beard oil and beard butter. I also like cedar. I think Swagger is cedar-scented, which is the body wash I use.

I also like lavender, vanilla, tea tree oil, peppermint, petrichor, pine, a bunch of other ones. But I don’t wear any of those.

I have some very old Ralph Lauren orange scented stuff that I must have been given about a decade ago, thats nice, it’ll be sad when its empty

oh that reminds me I should get some more of that lavender soap I like, I deserve to smell cosy
