i dont think fear is the response most people feel about these sorts of vaguely pagan cosplay events. it’s probably closer to how most people feel about stamp collecting. just complete and utter disinterest.
anyway, nobody except the fringe of the fringe (like varg) consider this to be the european roots they want to return to. they dont even think about this at all.
Idk people seem to love to performatively hate on stuff like Astrology and divinations, which do seem like the last vestiges of pagan religion for white people. Idk I could be wrong. It just reminds me of when Occupied Koreans malded that their president consulted a “witch” even though that’s literally their native religion.
well yeah, people will hate on astrology the way they hate on flat eartherism. i’m p sure it’s basically the same people doing both.
not sure that it has anything to do with pagan stuff. europe is a lost cause, even the “pagan” stuff we have is modern made up shit based on 18-19th century made up shit, because everything is gone.
I’m not super knowledgeable about the ROK “witch” thing, but a quick internet search says she’s involved with a cult called the Church of Eternal Life, founded by her father, that syncretizes traditional Korean shamanism with Buddhism and Christianity, which he founded after converting from being a Buddhist monk to being a Presbyterian. I’m also reading that her and her father both used their politics influence to secure donations to their businesses.
It amuses me to no end how these losers are all about “retvrn” and “European roots”.
Congrats guys, you never spiritually decolonized and now the last vestiges of your ancestral religions scare you.
